SUPER BOWL CHAMPION
& Starting Defensive Tackle for the Los Angeles Chargers, Sebastian Joseph-Day has found great success on the field & amazing accomplishments off of it. From using his interest and education in Media Studies to start his own photography brand to a long list of charity work, Sebastian strives to be the embodiment of “More Than An Athlete”. His football career started in Stroudsburg, PA where he was raised by native-born Haitian parents Mirlande and Joseph. After amassing only 6 scholarship offers as a 3-star recruit, Sebastian committed to play football at Rutgers University.
In addition to his on-field success, Sebastian has always taken his time to commit to off-field endeavors. Earning Academic All Big-Ten honors at Rutgers in 2015, 2016, and 2017 proved that his commitment in the classroom reflected that of his dedication to the game. Even as a Scarlet knight, giving back was always a priority for Sebastian as he volunteered his time to the New Jersey Special Olympics, Read Across America and Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. His charity work culminated with a mission trip to South Africa with the Christian fellowship organization Athletes In Action.
Following a red-shirt year, he went on to start in three consecutive seasons for the Scarlet Knights including playing his last year with a club over a broken hand. His injury couldn’t stop his accolades as he received All-Big Ten Honorable Mention, Big-Ten Sportsmanship Award, Rutgers Defensive Lineman of the Year, and The Rutgers Homer Hazel Team MVP award. Following the 2017 season, Sebastian participated in the College Gridiron Showcase and earned Defensive MVP awards for the week.
Sebastian was chosen by the Los Angeles Rams with the 195th pick in the 6th round of the 2018 NFL Draft. In his first season Sebastian saw time in the preseason, but traveled with the team and remained on the inactive list for the rest of the year. In 2019, Sebastian was trusted at the helm and had a breakout out season as he started all 16 games for the Rams as Nose Tackle.
In 2022 Sebastian Signed a 3 Year contract with the Los ANgeles Chargers where he continues to make an impact on and off the field.
While in the NFL, with more resources Sebastian found partnerships with Meals on Wheels and became an official ambassador on behalf of Special Olympics Haiti. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sebastian found himself in a great position to contribute and encourage others to do the same by donating $15,000 to relieve front-line workers. Sebastian is also a member of the Players Coalition where he presented an $88,000 check on behalf of the coalition to a few schools in the LA area as well as participating in conversations around the topics of income and educational inequality.
